Amanda Hermans BS
Amanda Hermans is a Research Assistant at The Lab @ DC and a graduate student in American University’s Master of Public Policy program, where she is focused on the intersection of environmental and urban policy. She is particularly interested in implementing environmental and racial justice in city-level policy decisions.
Prior to joining The Lab @ DC, Amanda worked as a journalist and editor in Chicago, where she wrote about diverse issues including Medicaid expansion, housing policy and outdoor recreation. She is currently the Managing Online Editor of the Public Purpose Journal, an policy-oriented graduate student journal at American University’s School of Public Affairs.
Amanda received her B.S. in journalism and international studies from Northwestern University. When she’s not working or studying, she can be found trying new restaurants in her Ward 1 neighborhood. She also enjoys hiking, reading, playing flute and volunteering for local causes.
